Sad Universal Truth

I went to see the movie “Into the Wild” on Tuesday night.

It was one of the first movies in a long time where I’ve walked out in complete and utter silence, just in awe really.  It’s hard to believe it was based on a true story.  Anyone who has that much courage to live their dream to the end is hard to come by.

I thought I was embarking on a journey to change my life, but it seems like a joke compared! Here I am, living in a house, having most of my meals cooked for me, hanging out with friends, and basically being on a five month vacation.  Whereas he hitchhiked across the country, found ways to feed himself (mainly by hunting for his own dinner), and slept wherever he could find a place.

It’s wild thought because if a woman of the same age tried to do the same, she’d have to constantly be worried about being kidnapped, raped or even worse. It’s sad that that’s what society has done to women.  It has taught us to constantly be worried about who could be around the next dark corner or who’s walking just steps behind us.

However, it’s impossible to avoid, for fear that something awful will happen to you while your guard is down.

It shows how sick the world we live in has become.  Where we target those weaker  than ourselves and take complete advantage of their weaknesses.  This can be seen as a twisted world truth.  It happens between males & females, adults & children, big corporations & small business, and it even extents to large industrial countries & small undeveloped third world countries.
